Gypsy Guide to Comporta, Portugal. This is what we imagine the Hamptons was like, years ago before it was built up into the fancy scene that it has become... a place to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of coastal living. From the umbrella pines and cork trees, to the sand dunes, vineyards, and rice fields, Comporta is a low key yet completely elevated destination that completely captured our hearts.

Matcha & Tea ~ Ritual over Hustle I started makin Matcha & Tea ~ Ritual over Hustle

I started making matcha every morning while researching ikigai—and that led me down a rabbit hole about traditional Japanese tea culture.

For over 400 years, matcha was practiced with four principles: harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. Then the wellness industry commodified it. Turned a sacred ritual into a trend. Stripped it of meaning and sold it back to us as content.

Matcha & Tea is my reclamation of ritual. This isn’t about being trendy or performing wellness. It’s about creating a daily practice that grounds me, honors where this tradition comes from, and reminds me that some things are meant to be savored—not rushed.

At 54, after everything I’ve survived and and trying to rebuild, I know this: ritual is how we return to ourselves. This is mine.

Welcome to Matcha & Tea. 🍵✨

Spent 3 months abroad? Did it.
Started a podcast? Did it.
Prioritized my health after cancer? Did it.

None of it was convenient. All of it mattered to me. So I made it happen.

That’s how I know: when something truly matters, you find a way. And when it doesn’t? You find an excuse.

So when people’s actions don’t match their words? When they’re “too busy” or “going through it” or “will get to it eventually”? Believe what they’re showing you.

I’m done making myself smaller to accommodate people who won’t make space for me. Done waiting. Done performing patience.

If they wanted to, they would. And if they’re not? That tells me everything I need to know. 🍵

An athlete who’s all discipline and focus on the field, then turns around and is soft, protective, vulnerable behind closed doors? That’s the magic.
But when Black authors write Black athletes? When they bring the cultural context, the family pressure, the community expectations, the code-switching, the authenticity of navigating that world—it’s a whole different level.
